School Governors
Our School Governors at Earl Spencer Primary act as a team. They supervise all aspects of school activity from the learning experiences of children to the business management of the school. Many of the governors bring individual expertise to their role in addition to their background as parents, Local Authority representatives, school staff or members of the community.
Through collaboration with the Headteacher and other staff, the Governors strive to create a safe, caring and happy environment where everybody is respected and valued. The children in our care are afforded every opportunity to achieve their potential both academically and socially and to recognise the unique contribution that they have to make to the world around them.
Governors at Earl Spencer all have areas which they focus on, working to both support and challenge leaders at the school to continually strive to improve the quality of education we provide.
In our Ofsted inspection in March 2019, our report states that:
"Governors know the school's strengths and areas for development. They have a well-organised programme of visits that link to the school's development plan."

Meet our Governors
Jenny Daniels- Chair
I’ve been a governor for over 20 years and my 3 children did very well at Earl Spencer. When they left, I felt really committed to the school so stayed. I’ve worked for the council, first Northamptonshire County Council and when that split for North Northants Council for several years now supporting councillors and arranging their meetings. I have huge experience in governance not just from my job but from previous roles in various community settings. I have been a volunteer youth worker and community development officer and remain totally committed to the school and making it the best it can be for the community, the parents and most importantly the pupils it serves.
Julie Rowley - Vice Chair
I have now been a Governor for over 20 years, in 2 Church Schools, and now at Earl Spencer. I wanted to be a Governor here to help support the staff and pupils in such a diverse cultural area. My personal work is for a private Business College where I manage a team of 10 Tutor/Assessors focussing on the individual achievements of adult learners on Apprenticeships in the Business Sector. My role also involves me managing Equality and Diversity for my company. At home, my hobbies are all things craft including sewing, quilting and crotchet, and I am District Commissioner for Towcester District Girl Guiding.
Wendy Orton
I have been involved in education and teaching for over 25 years. Having taught in a variety of schools, including Earl Spencer, and lectured in Education and Teacher Training, I now work as the Training Lead with an Educational Consultancy company (writing and developing training to support schools) and as an Assessor for Teaching Apprenticeships.
I wanted to be a governor so that I could help to support all the children and staff at Earl Spencer and still be part of a school that I truly believe works hard for its community and is dedicated to all the families and team that make up the Earl Spencer community.
My hobbies include looking after my animals which include horses, sheep, dogs, chickens and a cat. I am a bit of a book worm but love walking and generally being outside.
Rev Sue Faulkner
I am the Vicar of the two nearby churches St Mary the Virgin Dallington and St James Northampton. I have been in the Christian ministry for 25yrs. In this time I have been a governor of various different Primary Schools. I am committed to life long learning and believe that primary education provides the best foundation for the whole of life. I am committed to helping to provide the best opportunities for our whole community, and am rooted in ideals of social justice. I have developed a special interest in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion, once again with the vision of providing high quality education for every single pupil in our schools.
