Term 3- School Days
Our new topic this term is School Days.
We will be comparing our school life today to that in the Victorian times.
We look forward to welcoming some visitors who will give us an insight into what school life was like in the Victorian Era.
Victorian day!
We had a great day dressed up as victorian children. We started the day being given a victorian name, we then practised our handwriting, victorian style. We then had a go at washing clothes with a bar if soap before making our own toys.
In the afternoon we welcomed a visitor who was a victorian school master. We had to line up and pay a penny to go to school before we had a hand and shoe inspection. We then practised writing on slate boards with chalk before using a pen and ink pot. We learnt about the dunce cap and the cane and we some of us were brave enough to try them out.
We finished by playing some parlour games and with victorian toys.
Friday 17th May the children took part in a sponsored walk for Mental Health Awareness Week and they all came in to school dressed in green.
