Spring 1 - Rocks, Relics and Rumbles
In the Rocks, Relics and Rumbles project, your child will learn about the different layers of the Earth, including plate tectonics and their potential effects on the Earth's surface. They will investigate different types of rock to learn about their uses and properties. They will also investigate soil and fossils, including learning about the work of Mary Anning. They will have the opportunity to use maps to learn about the lines of latitude and longitude and a compass to learn about the cardinal and intercardinal points. They will also learn about volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis and the long and short-term consequences that these can have.
In DT this week, we have looked at how levers, linkages and sliders work. We used this knowledge to create our own and made some very exciting machines!
This term in science, we are looking at forces and our lesson this week we investigated friction.
This week in Science, we have continued building on our knowledge of forces. We measured the force it would take to complete certain pulling forces in Newtons, and worked with partners to make sure we made accurate readings!
This week in music we have been continuing our work on learning Bob Marley's Three Little Birds. We warmed up well, kept to the beat and managed to play the chorus of the song on our glockenspiels and sing it at the same time!
In our art topic we have been looking at Ammonites. WE recently worked on creating sketches of them, then used our printing technique to create some wonderful art!
In Science this week, we have continued on our work with forces. We were investigating friction and how we can change the amount of friction that an object creates..
This week in History, we have looked at the Celts. We drew some pictures based on a description from Julius Ceasar before we had seen what they look like, and then compared our drawings to what they actually looked like to see how close we came.
